What is Life Coaching?
Life Coaching is a partnership between an individual, pair, or team and a coaching professional, where the client (when coaching a couple or team the couple/team is the client) sets the goals and controls the direction. The coach's role is to facilitate the client’s growth as the client defines that growth. Coaching creates the space for personal, self-directed change. As coach, I will am as committed to your success as you are. My role is to help you see your life from different angles and to support you when and where you need it. As your coach I will provide you with the tools to get the most out of your life, your work and/or your relationship.
How is Business Coaching Different from Consulting
There can be a degree of cross over between coaching and consulting. Consultants do from time to time coach and coaches have been known to consult. In general the differences lie in their different focuses. A coach comes from the perspective that the business owner or business team knows better then anyone what works and what doesn't. It is the coach's role to support the business in evaluating the current systems in use and explore ways to improve the formal and informal relationships and systems of the business. While the coach brings a level of experience, their expertise is in the process, rather than the particulars of a certain industry or business type.
A consultant on the other hand brings a level of expertise in the type of business and will often provide an assessment of the business and then offer solutions or recomendations for implimentation.
What is different about Relationship/Systems based coaching?
Relationships are at the center of who we are and what we do. How well you relate to yourself and to others affects every aspect of your life. Relationship-based coaching recognizes the central role which relationships play in your life and will help you develop powerful and mutually beneficial relationships. This includes how you see yourself and how you treat yourself, as well as how you perceive and interact with others.
How long does it take to get results?
I have had clients achieve their goals in only three or four sessions. I have also had clients who have worked with me for years, tackling one goal or area of improvement at a time. Results vary and every client is different, but in general we start with a 3-4 month period of time and set goals to measure results so that you achieve what you set out to achieve.
How often do client and coach meet or speak?
Call frequency really depends on the client. Some clients prefer or want weekly calls, others benefit from bi-monthly or monthly calls. We can discuss what would work best for you depending on what you want to work on and how quickly you want to see results.
How long are appointments or calls?
We can arrange appointments from 30-50 minutes in duration for individuals and anywhere from 55-85 minutes for couples with the fee based on the length of time and the frequency of those appointments.
How do I know if coaching is right for me?
The only way to know for sure is to talk to others who have benefited from coaching and actually schedule a couple sample sessions. Try a couple of different coaches if you are not sure so that you can find the person who works best with you.
How is coaching different from Counseling or Therapy?
Life Coaching is not therapy or counseling, which primarily focuses on the past and its impact on the present. There are many different forms of therapy available today and a trained therapist should be consulted by individuals with therapeutic needs. Life Coaching does not diagnose, rather a life coach works with an individual, couple or group to determine goals and objectives, determine strategies, acquire new skills or behaviors and create new connections and situations.
